After a long hiatus, The Ghost Light Effect is back! We're shifting our focus a bit for this season to give some behind-the-scenes insight on our current productions.

In this episode, we interview Julian Wiles, Eliza Knode, and Raymond Conley about JFK and Inga Binga, an original comedy written by our very own Mr. Wiles. The play explores a little-known episode in John F. Kennedy's life that takes place right here in Charleston.

Join us in our Season One Finale episode as we talk to Karen Spain and Andrew Bentz. Karen and Andrew are alums of our youth programs, and both are now practicing lawyers. Listen as they help us demystify the law (at least a little bit) and tell us about their journeys from the stage to the bar.

This month's guests are doing very different work - Hadley helps chart US waterways with NOAA and Mark works in humanitarian aid and public health - but they both spent their high school years right here at Charleston Stage. We talked about big world issues and personal memories of finding a place to fit in. 

This episode's guests are Dr. Emily Harkins and Dr. C.T. Grayson. Both participated in Charleston Stage's Wings program, and both went on to medical school at Tulane. They're now practicing doctors, Emily in Emergency Medicine and C.T. in General Surgery. They spoke to us about their path to becoming doctors, doctor-patient communication, which medical TV show is the most realistic, and more!

In our first episode, we begin at the beginning. Colin Somers and Evie McGee were involved with Charleston Stage from its beginning as The Young Charleston Theatre Company in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Both of them have stayed close to theatre their whole lives, but have branched out into other creative industries since then.

Colin is now a Commercial Producer for advertising and marketing in Chicago. Evie is a film producer and the founder of a film festival in her current home of Montclair, NJ. She also runs a production company with her husband, Stephen Colbert. 

In this episode we talk about the early days of the company, the importance of Theatre and The Arts in our communities, and theatre-based parenting strategies.
