In today's episode I pull back the curtain on a very painful point in my life which ultimately has become a motivator for me to shed light on issues in the modern church in order to prevent the cycle of hurt from repeating itself.

Your story matters and could save someone else from having to endure the same struggle you have.

Today we are discussing a common trend in today's Christian culture. That is christian celebrities and our unchecked habits of idolizing our pastors. From our favorite worship albums to even our local pastors, we let these people have too much weight in our lives. While we can absolutely learn and glean wisdom from some of these people, we tend to put these individuals next to or sometimes above Jesus only to be hurt when we eventually we realize they are not.

In today's episode we will talk briefly about some root cause issues that lead to volunteer abuse at many churches. It is my hope that church & ministry leaders will pause and do so true reflection to see if there are any things they could do better to prevent the over use and abuse of volunteers.

Ok today's episode we will get a little left of center. I frame it that way because I believe we let the subject/substance of alcohol become a taboo thing that no Christian should ever use or do, or at least not do so publicly. As someone who has spent over a decade on staff at various churches, let me tell you I have seen people make mountains out of a mole hill on this issue, and that is me being generous.

The purpose of this topic is to challenge the church on how we handle and discuss alcohol within our churches, so that maybe, just maybe, we can twist the narrative in a way that allows Christians to feel more like themselves in and outside of the church.

My views may be out side the norm, and that is ok. Just keep classy y'all.

Politics are always a dicy subject. Whether at a thanks giving dinner or even amongst friends, politics is a sure fire way to get into a heated discussion. Given the recent events, I decided to move this episode up in priority to hopefully provide some inspiration as to how we can conduct ourselves in this upcoming political season.

Welcome to Episode 2 of The Damaged Pastor!

I am so glad you are here with me and today we are going to be starting strong with a pretty sensitive subject for a lot of people. That is, mental health in church.

In this episode you will hear what is unfortunately something that is all to common in a lot of our churches when it comes to mental health and how it is handled.

Though this episode will feel on the heavy side, I did not want to shy away from starting with something I think a great majority of people struggle with to some degree, yet are scared to be vulnerable about their struggles.
