Most recently, Katy’s production of Leo Season was featured as part of Candle House Collective’s FireStarter Initiative. • Advice for New Writers w/ Nicole Miras
    Aug 16 2021

Welcome back, Creators! In this episode, I decided to do something a little different from our usual format. If you’re new here, most of our episodes are interviews, where I bring on artists and creatives of all stripes to discuss their work. But today, I thought it would be fun to share some of the lessons I’ve learned over the years as an author and editor.

I thought the podcast would provide a great opportunity to delve into some of these topics on a deeper level, and I hope you all find this useful and interesting. Specifically, we’ll be talking today about some of the most common mistakes I see from new writers. I’m hoping that by breaking these down in greater detail, I can motivate you to put pen to paper and give you further confidence to explore your craft. Hope you enjoy!

We discuss everything from Eve’s early design experiences, how her process as an artist has evolved over the years, and her work as the in-house designer at Creative Reaction Lab. • Urban Farmer & Culinary Instructor Denise Whitney
    Jun 21 2021

Welcome back to the show! This week, we’re sitting down with Denise Whitney, an urban farmer and culinary instructor based in Southern California. Since the pandemic began, many Americans have developed a stronger interest in growing their own food and improving their culinary skills. In this episode, Denise shares the lessons she’s learned from tending to her half-acre farm, which includes produce, fruit trees, chickens, and even a few goats! She also “dishes” on her time studying at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris (pardon the pun—I couldn't help myself), and what it’s like now teaching her students how to cook.

To gain access to recipes, heartwarming stories, and further culinary advice, you can visit her website: http://messyroomstudio.blogspot.com/

Note: The Creator's Table Podcast will be on its annual summer break during the month of July. We'll be back with all new episodes in August. Stay tuned!

  • Fashion Designer Matt Mcloughlin
    Jun 7 2021

Welcome back! This week’s episode is about fashion—how it’s evolving, how it impacts our everyday lives, and what it’s like working in today’s industry. Joining us as today’s guest is Matt Mcloughlin, a fashion designer and the winner of the 2019 Best Emerging Designer award for the St. Louis chapter of the Fashion Group International. In his words, Matt designs “modern luxury urban wear focused on the experience of the wearer without compromising aesthetics.”

We also discuss wider issues in the world of fashion, such as sustainability and the role of new technology. I certainly learned a great deal about the industry from our conversation, and I’m excited to share Matt’s insights and advice with you all.

  • Architectural Designer Corrina Thompson
    May 17 2021

Architecture has a profound impact on our everyday lives. The average American spends about 90% of their time inside—in classrooms, offices, the (ideally) long hours of sleep at night, and more. In this episode, architectural designer Corrina Thompson (of LPA Design Studios in Irvine, CA) enlightens us on all the little details that architectural firms have to consider when creating the spaces in which we live.

Corrina discusses the creativity and complexity of architectural design, her journey from art school to the professional world, and all of the lessons she’s learned along the way. Even if you yourself aren’t working in the architectural field, so much of what Corrina shares in this episode about collaboration and "working smarter" can be applied to most creative endeavors. I’m thrilled to see what lies in store for Corrina in the future.
