The Creative Impostor

  • Summary

  • Are you creating work that fully expresses who you are? Does the process of making the thing give you energy upward momentum? Are you living a creative lifestyle that is aligned with your values and desires? The Creative Impostor exits at the intersection of identity and creativity. It’s a deep inquiry into both who we are and why we make what we make. Host Andrea Klunder has inhabited many creative roles: singer, actor, writer, filmmaker, yoga teacher, bodyworker, meditator, entrepreneur, podcaster, teacher, media producer, strategist, speaker… She’ll take you inside her own head and the minds of other creative professionals to see what drives us despite the voices of self-doubt that threaten to stop us in our tracks with a little sprinkling of how we create the life and work we imagine.

  • Making magic in people's lives with the Del Sol Quartet, Sounds Current
    Dec 2 2024

Have you ever had an experience of working with someone at the top of their game that pushes you, artistically (in a good way), to be and do more than you have in the past?

A project that streeeetches your skills in a way that is at times uncomfortable and exhausting, but in the end you see (or in this case hear) what you’ve created and say, “Wow! That really is good.”?

And then suddenly, you find yourself in new rooms, having new conversations, with new people, about even more inspiring topics?

Okay… well if you haven’t yet had that experience, go ahead and live vicariously through me for the next hour and maybe you’ll get a taste of what I mean.

Let me introduce you to the Del Sol Quartet, currently composed of Charlton Lee on viola, Hyeyung Sol Yoon and Ben Keith on violins, and Kathryn Bates on cello.

And if you’ve been paying attention, you may know that I’ve been having the pleasure to collaborate with Del Sol on the first season of their podcast Sounds Current, which was a 2024 official selection at the Tribeca Audio Storytelling Festival and won a Sold Signal Award for Artists & Designers Shaping Culture.

    But awards aside…

This episode isn’t just about creating a podcast, though we do talk a little bit about Sounds Current in the second half. It’s about the joys and tension of being part of a group of artists (rather than a solo creator), pushing yourself to do something new in order to move society, and making art that means something valuable even when, and especially if, it doesn’t make sense economically.

  • An injection of weirdness with Becky Kilimnik & Diana Doty, Homespun Haints
    Nov 1 2024

There are some shows, some podcasters, who embody the spark that first drew me to podcasting’s flame in the depths of entrepreneurial burnout.

Becky Kilmnick and Diana Doty of Homespun Haints are those podcasters.

Over the years, they have become masters in the craft of independent digital storytelling and community building through their horror comedy podcast of true ghost stories.

Ever the experimental entrepreneurs, Becky and Diana have recently launched a NEW project for the indie business minded creative searching for a better path. And no, this one isn’t haunted… probably.

Podcasting, paranormal investigations, entrepreneurial success (and failure), cats in space… all this and more lie ahead should you choose to continue down this road.

  • A Love Note to Your Voice with Mary Chan, The Podcaster's Guide to a Visible Voice
    Oct 14 2024
YOUR VOICE... What do you use if for? Have you ever thought of it like an instrument? Do you consider yourself to be a voice professional? Do you feel confident in your voice? Do you even LIKE the sound of it? Well… if you speak, perform, podcast, teach, lead meetings, create content for YouTube or other social media channels, you ARE probably a voice professional and your voice is an invaluable asset. Or at least it CAN be with a little guidance. And that’s a pursuit worthwhile to both Mary Chan and me. And it’s what we are exploring in the first half of this episode. Mary is a Podcast Strategist, Voice Coach, & Voice-Over Artist. She launches and edits podcasts for business professionals. She’s the founder of Organized Sound Productions, and producer and host of The Podcaster’s Guide to a Visible Voice. Mary and I are also sharing: insights on whether your current voice is authentically yours (why or why not), the intangible benefits of podcasting, whether podcasts need to be video, the challenging parts of entrepreneurship (ahem… sales), and she'll even give you a quick guide to writing love notes to YOUR voice.
