    Nov 11 2020

This week Michelle speaks with Joy Joseph, a multi-talented drummer, percussionist, singer/songwriter, and actor originally from London, but currently residing in Brooklyn. Joy's passion for music started early, partly due to the fact that she was born into a musical as the daughter of Trinidadian Calypso legend Alexander D Great. But she found her own sound and musical path, which led her to become part of Mr Hudson's Library. This connection put Joy on track for her musical career and has since toured with artists such as Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, and Calvin Harris to name a few. In 2016 Joy released her first EP 'Who I am' which features her hallmark Afro-Caribbean percussion, 80's ethno-electronic sound, vocals, and production. But when Joy isn't busy being a musical legend; she shares her love for our favourite feline friends, posting and sharing funny cats on social media. Joy's cat Graham is still running things in West London at her uncle's house while she is in the states. But she's currently looking after cats; who are living in the courtyard of her Brooklyn apartment, who she refers to as the Georgette's. If you want to find out more about Joy and her music you can find her @joy_josephmusic on Instagram and www.joyjosephmusic.com/music
