  • The Last Word - Exeter City 1-2 Bolton Wanderers
    Jan 5 2025

Welcome back to The Last Word, and a day of drama on and off the pitch.

Aaron Morley came back to win the game with a late free kick at Exeter and Aaron Collins scored his 12th of the season, all after Wanderers had given themselves a mountain to climb with some sloppy defending.

But there was more to come as controversy off the pitch threatened to mar what was an all-round decent away result.

Marc Iles takes you through the action with Henry Hewitt also dropping in to give his view on the game. We also hear from Wanderers boss Ian Evatt and the returning hero Aaron Morley.

  • The Buff Podcast presents: Can the January window save Ian Evatt and Wanderers?
    Jan 3 2025

Welcome back to The Buff, hope you all had a cracking Christmas and a great New Year. Sorry about (most of) the football.

Marc Iles and Henry Hewitt are back to go through the main talking points at Bolton Wanderers with a fine toothed comb, which Marc got as a joke present in Secret Santa.

The January window is upon us and it comes at a crucial time for the club and its manager, who have both been under some pressure of late.

Can the transfer business Bolton do this month make a difference?

Where will Aaron Morley be playing his football in February?

What positions need to be addressed right away?

Will Wanderers lose anyone they don't want to lose?

All of the above is examined, along with the upcoming game at Exeter City and an extra long email section which, being honest, has barely made a dent in our inbox.

Settle down, make a brew, and grab yourself a few of the leftover chocolates from the Quality Street tin. It's time to podcast 2025 style.

  • The Last Word - Mansfield Town 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
    Jan 1 2025

Welcome back to The Last Word, and another frustrating defeat against Mansfield Town to kick the New Year off on the worst possible note.

Ian Evatt felt the performances merited more, and we had a split in opinion among The Buff regulars, but the bottom line was that despite territorial and possession advantage, Mansfield took three points and moved ahead of Bolton in the league table.

Marc Iles talks you through all the action, Henry Hewitt and Russ Pollitt chip in with their thoughts, and we hear from Ian Evatt and George Thomason.

  • The 12 Days of Buff-Mas Episode 12 - Adam Le Fondre
    Jan 1 2025

Merry Buff-mas ladies and gents, and to celebrate the festive season, Marc and Henry have recorded a special series of 12 episodes to keep you entertained every day to the New Year!

Every day we'll be centring on one of Henry's favourite Bolton players of the last few decades before Marc brings the tone down with a curious tale, or a bizarre name from Wanderers' murky past.

We'll be back with the main show on Friday, January 3 - but for now sit back, relax and enjoy some quality BWFC chat.

On the final episode of our series we take a look back at one of Bolton most natural goalscorers of recent years, Adam Le Fondre. Through two loan spells and one permanent spell he became a fans' favourite who always knew where to find the back of the net.

And to round off the episode we look at a player who wasn't quite that prolific, The Norwegian makeweight, and master of the Seal Dribble, Daniel Braaten.

In the second half of the pod we look at a deal that didn't work out - ex-England, Liverpool and Newcastle United front man, Peter Beardsley, and why his time at Bolton turned into a nightmare.

  • The Last Word - Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Lincoln City
    Dec 29 2024

Welcome back to The Last Word, and a relatively comfortable 3-0 win for Bolton Wanderers against Lincoln City.

Yes, the Imps shot themselves in the foot with a half-time red card, yes some of the goals had an element of luck about them, but considering some of the difficult days we have seen in 2024, let's hope this is the change in fortunes we have all been craving.

Marc Iles guides you through the day's action, we hear from Bolton fans Henry Hewitt and Russ Pollitt and interviews from Ian Evatt and Jay Matete. All wrapped up in a nice little podcast.

In the second half of the podcast we look at one of the more curious recent signings made by Wanderers, that of Erhun Oztumer, the diminutive playmaker who looked a bad fit from the start in Phil Parkinson's squad.
