You are a powerful man with great connections, and you have just had to let go of some employees, even though they were hardworking. You were not for it but the upstairs did not care about your opinion. It has been a long day and as you were approaching your vehicle, you noticed a flat on the back tire, and since it was late, with darkness quickly engulfing, you decided to take care of it the next day, and use alternate transport instead. So, you call your wife, but after a few tries she does not pick. You know that there’s only one solution, and as you walk towards the loathsome public transportation, a couple of guys rough you up and steal your phone and money. You feel very frustrated, but in remembering how you had just fired innocent people with families looking up to them, you take it as something that you deserve, God repaying you for your wrong doings. You give a loud sigh and say, “it’s okay, I will recover.” And you walk on home no longer able to afford public transport. You had not eaten anything all day, and the walk home is 30 – long - minutes. You walk on, slowly dragging your feet, and the cold breeze of the night traumatizingly grips you, and your jacket can no longer protect you. Your face is sagging, and your heart’s broken, never had you gone through so much in a single day. But still you give yourself strength. And finally, you reach to the gate of your home, and the first thing you notice is that it’s dark. “Asleep already?” you think to yourself. Hurriedly you open the metallic gate and walk in, but on approaching the house, you realize that the door is slightly open. Your heart begins to race, but cautiously, you approach the door and slowly push it in. What you see shocks you. The once lavishly furnished house is all empty, and even your 100-inch tv, is gone, and it’s football season. Anger and confusion consume you, at the horrid sight of your house, that was once a home. But in the midst of your confusion, your peripheral eye notices a small note dangling at the mercy of a duct tape, and swiftly you rush to it, and tear it from the wall. It is now in your hands, but its content grips you with terror, as though death. It’s a note from your once beloved wife, saying, “We are done, I have pretended to love you long enough, but I’ve reached my limit, it’s not that you could not have children, it’s just that I did not want one with you. You are a good guy, and I’m sorry for all the years you’ve wasted with me, and for all the things I have taken with me. I could not go empty handed. Your laptop is in the bedroom drawer. Goodbye.” You stand there pensive, and a train of thoughts rush through your mind, as you remember all of the beautiful moments that you had with her, and questions pop up, left and right. Is this for real? You rush up the stairs after a short pause, and head straight for the drawer. And surely, the laptop is there. You grab it and power it up, then you log in to your joint account and just as you had suspected, 55 million is gone, and now all you have is your house. The bed is still there and as you lay there helplessly, the reach of your influence comes to mind, and you remember just how powerful you are. What is your next step? But my most important question: As a Christian, what should be your next step in accordance to the Lords word?
