Sweatt v. Painter: The End of Segregated Education in America?

  • Summary

  • On this episode we’ll talk about the importance of the 1950 Supreme Court case Sweatt v Painter. That case began in Austin, TX when in 1946, Heman Marion Sweatt, a black man, applied for admission to the University of Texas Law School. State law restricted access to that university to whites, and Sweatt's application was, therefore, rejected.
