    Aug 30 2023

Rameshbhai was born in Samapur, India in 1946 and as a child, moved to Miwani in Africa.

As an ambitious young man, he decided that he did not want to settle with the perceived limitations of staying in Africa. With his friends, they decided to go to the UK, with nothing more than a hope and a prayer.

He discusses his life and the moves that have now led to him calling the UK his home.

In our conversation, he shares insights that can only be expressed in his words.

The areas covered in the conversation

    1. Being born and life in India

    2. The move to Miwani in Africa

    3. The decision to move to the UK

    4. Adapting to life in the UK

    5. Wisdom and lessons for the next generation

    Getting Involved in this Project

This project is to share the stories of the Elders of the Mandhata Samaj Community about their life in India/Africa and the move to the UK.

For us, as the younger generation of this community, we want to highlight and share these stories, told in their own words, whilst they are still with us.

We feel the decisions they made, the sacrafices and struggles they endured, to give us the life that we have, should never be forgotten. We wanted to capture them so all the following generations that precede us, will be able to understand and appreciate where they have come from.
