Mankind is prone to being deceived ever since the fall, but how can the average believer guard their hearts with all diligence when there are so many doctrines - some demonic - vying for our attention? Are some just ignoring that still, small voice? Are believers too trusting of anyone who calls themselves a pastor? All this and more with JB to continue to equip the church for dark days. We should expect turbulence. But how much? When an airplane full of people experiences unusually strong turbulence, the panic, screaming and terror is heartbreaking because they do not know what is going to happen next. In the same way, no one knows what will happen next in the world, but Jesus, the I AM, tells his disciples in Matthew 14 to "fear not". AND "be of good cheer". So here we are church, armed with hope and brimming with good cheer, right? Yes, watching the epic fail of the West is very difficult, but the nations raging and the sea tossing is something we should expect. We will look at the Middle East as it reaches a point of no return; the looming dockworkers strike next week, and find out from Scripture what this distress and perplexity really means.     Mary chats with Gary Kah on this edition of Stand Up for the Truth. The idea of things going at "breakneck speed" had its origin in, of all times, the Victorian era. We get this phrase from the latter half of the 19th century, when Victorian bicycles were made of metal and had these huge, high front wheels, with the rider seated precariously on top and subject to every bump. Now, they do not look safe at all, but the larger the wheel, the faster one could go, was the motive. And the brakes, well those were more symbolic than functional and as soon as the rider hit a rut he went flying forward and landed on his head. I think that describes our world pretty well. There are no brakes in this world apparently, either. But the notion of "breakneck speed" coming from a pre-industrial bicycle is very ironic. On the table today for discussion is the UN Pact for the Future, the coming very significant election, and when all is combined, that tipping point we have all been expecting in the world.
