Sonic Fields

By: Sam Tyler
  • Summary

  • Sonic Fields is a new 7-part podcast which tells the story of a year-long deep dive into the British Music Festival. Sam Tyler meets the people and learns about the forces that have shaped the story since the late '60s, before taking a dizzying summer adventure across festivals of today and trying to find his place within it all.

This is a story of how we arrived at our modern festival landscape. What even is a festival in 2024? Who are they for, and what might we have lost or gained along the way?

Masterpiece by an unsung hero

Fascinating history dive into a rarely discussed scene set against a backdrop of huge UK cultural, social, political and legal change. Incredible work and clearly a labour of love. I doff my cap. Take a bow Sam.
