  • Never stop talking about the ocean: Andrew Lewin, Host of How To Protect The Ocean
    Oct 8 2024

In today's episode, I'm chatting with Andrew Lewin, Host of How To Protect The Ocean podcast and undisputed marine conservation superman!

In this episode we discuss Andrew's unrelenting ocean advocacy, colourful manta rays made of recycled flip flops and why he'll never stop talking about the ocean.

This episode was recorded soon after the passing of Wallace J. Nichols, marine biologist, author and founder of the Blue Mind movement. A huge source of inspiration for me and so many others, I was so grateful to Andrew for holding the space to reflect on J's inspiring work.

Something Old: 'I grew up in Ontario, Canada, surrounded by the great lakes but definitely not the oceans. When I first really discovered and fell in love with the ocean was watching a Jacques Cousteau documentary...'

Something New: Angelo Villagomez decolonizing ocean conservation / Asha de Vos (founder of Oceanswell) protecting blue whale populations from ship strikes in Sri Lanka

Something Borrowed: The Salmon People podcast (ocean justice, indigenous rights). ‘There’s a lot of ways you can take a piece of content like that, that’s so good. A lot of times I’ll take what people have said and I’ll start that conversation’

Something Blue: 'I look just near the back of the boat and I see these little swirls of water as you go by...and it's like a little trance that I go into.'

  • Introduction
    Aug 21 2024
Where do you imagine when I ask you to think of something blue? Maybe it's an ocean, a river or a lake, maybe it's the feeling you get when you take a sip of water, or the calmness in your mind as you sit at the water's edge. Water is there for every chapter of our lives, and in this podcast, we'll be discovering the untold stories of our love affair with water. I'll be inviting guests to share their something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue, as we dive into the realm of all things water and take a moment to appreciate the truly wonderful nature of blue spaces.
