Savouring Change - Brighton Chats Food

By: Brighton & Hove Food Partnership
  • Summary

  • Good food isn’t just fuel for your body; it’s the recipe for a thriving city. So join us as we chat to the people + projects across Brighton & Hove and beyond using food to create positive change for individuals and our city. We’ll dive a little bit deeper into some of the main issues around food that we work with everyday as a Food Partnership, such as how we get local food into the city; how we work towards providing access to healthy and sustainable food for all; what people get to eat in prisons; and most importantly, why this all matters.

  • 2 - Food Matters in Prisons
    Feb 8 2024

What could happen if we shift our thinking about how food is used in prisons, and being to see it as a focal point of prison life rather than just a function? In this episode we chat to Gemma Buckland from Do It Justice about her involvement in the new 'Food Matters in Prisons' briefing, coordinated by Food Matters. We discuss the briefing, which shows how food can be used to build more rehabilitative, safe, and sustainable prison environments and the steps we need to take to achieve this. We also chat more broadly about the food system within prisons, and why it is such a logical starting place for making positive change within the prison system.
