The Early Years: From Innocence to Crime Garrie Henwood’s story begins in a small town, where he grew up with modest means and faced the challenges common to many in working-class families. In this episode, we dive into his childhood, exploring the experiences that influenced him and the environment that nurtured his early ambitions. As we unpack the dynamics of Garrie’s family life, friendships, and the societal pressures he faced, we begin to understand the circumstances that ultimately led him down a darker path. This first episode is an intimate exploration of the choices that would eventually guide Garrie into a life of crime, and it sets the stage for the dramatic events that will follow. A Young Man’s First Steps into Crime As Garrie matures, we follow him into his teenage years, where the pressure to succeed and the allure of an easier life lead him to explore the world of crime. At first, he didn’t start with grand schemes or high-stakes scams. Instead, his journey into the criminal underworld began with something simpler: burglary. In this episode, we explore Garrie’s initial foray into criminal activity. What drove him to break into homes and steal? Was it the need for money, the thrill of getting away with something, or something more complex? Each small success encourages him to push the boundaries further, and soon, what started as petty theft grows into something far more dangerous. In Swiped, we don’t just look at the crimes themselves—we explore the psychological factors at play. What makes someone turn to crime in the first place? What drives them to continue when they could face serious consequences?
