    Who is our guest?

Meet Ilene Marcus: The Boss Who Beat the Odds

Ilene Marcus wrote the book on managing annoying people (literally). She’s also the boss lady behind Aligned Workplace, a company that helps leaders and founders level up their game with innovation and talent.

Ilene has been killing it in executive roles for over 30 years. She has led badass teams in huge organizations across different industries. She has saved

a failing social welfare agency with 10,000 staff, jet-sets for Techstars, a top seed accelerator, and mentors groups of entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses.

But Ilene’s journey hasn’t been all rainbows and unicorns. She has dealt with some serious stuff, like beating a rare cancer at 39, surviving a nasty divorce, and getting fired when her boss got busted for embezzlement. She learned how to handle her emotions in both her personal and professional life. She is here to show us how to bounce back from setbacks, rock innovation, and create an aligned workplace where everyone wins.

    Takeaways

Self-worth is about knowing you belong and contribute. Managing annoying people starts with managing oneself. Leaders must be innovators to guide their teams effectively. It's essential to understand the difference between annoyance and genuine issues. You can love someone and still find them annoying. Not everything in life needs to be dramatic or urgent. Self-worth is crucial for personal growth and happiness. Reactions often reveal more about us than our actions. Letting go is necessary for moving forward in life. The right mindset can help navigate challenges and annoyances
