Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Homicide Investigator sat down with Running Toward Evil Podcast for an interview and information-sharing session about the unsolved murder in Indianapolis, Indiana, of Jim Russell Hiner in August 2023. IMPD is trying different approaches to solve murders in Indianapolis using various methods such as AI and Podcasts. Hiner was found Around 2 p.m. on Aug. 25; officers responded to the 2900 block of Indianapolis Avenue, near West 29th Street, for a report of a body found next to an occupied house next to the garage. According to WTHR News, the coroner's report stated he died of a gunshot wound. IMPD is looking for citizen involvement to help the police solve this crime. I have reprised this episode of Gabby Pettio's murder. Since this episode aired, her boyfriend and traveling companion, Christopher Laundrie, committed suicide after allegedly being protected by his parents and before Petito's body was found on Sept. 19, 2021, and Laundrie was found after his suicide on Sept. 21, 2021. This case and how the police handled the investigation when they first had contact with Petito and Laudrie during their travels. Even though Petito was visibly upset and stated that Laundrie had been physical with her, the police released them without any further investigation or follow-up for her safety.

This was a tragic tale of an extraordinary murder that is either a well-thought-out conspiracy or could it have been simply a flawed investigation? For Eve Carson, the mystery of Joan Webster’s disappearance and eventually murder, is personal. Joan Webster, a Harvard graduate student at the time of her murder, was Eve Carson's sister-in-law. Eve Carson has developed her own methodology for developing an investigation for her sisters-in-law murder and she is not going to give up until the truth, or what she believes is the truth, is acknowledged by the authorities involved in this case.

Murder does not happen in a vacuum, and somebody, somewhere, knows the information that would lead to a killer, right? Since 1972, no one has come forward to answer the question of why Jeannette DePalma was killed. Plenty of people would talk about Jeannette's many sides, but no definitive answer about who she was last seen with. The problem is the varied statements about her whereabouts, who she may have been with, and why she may have been murdered. These are the factors that make solving a murder nearly impossible.

This podcast is an interview with retired Sgt. Judd Green of the Indianapolis Police Department, now known as the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Judd is a former Marine who served in Vietnam, and now he is a published author of a book entitled Stories From The Streets: Drug Dealers, Hostages and Killers. Judd and I were partners for several years as detectives in Vice and Homicide.

Interview with the author of Dead End - Inside the Hunt for the I70 Killer by Bob Cyphers. He details the year-long journey with several local police detectives on their search for the I70 serial killer who began these killings in 1992 and spread his violence across the Midwest, murdering six people before he disappeared. There were several witnesses, but no suspect has ever been arrested. However, Investigators may now have a clue that they didn't have before with a video of a robbery in Indiana years later that could be the answer to the questions detectives are looking for. Bob reveals this clue in the interview and in the book.
