  • Richard Dawson has a plethora of strings to his bow! Known locally for being a well-loved radio presenter on Erewash Sound, he is also a university lecturer in youth work and community development and is heavily involved in local theatre, both directing and acting.


    In this podcast, Richard talks about how his dream of being a radio presenter, when he was a little boy, became a reality as an adult. He shares his passion for building community and belonging, and how he uses his platforms to promote this. It was fascinating to hear about his 52 hour radiothon to raise money for charity, along with raising awareness of local groups and initiatives. Through his work in the community, Richard sees a great deal of loneliness and isolation, and talks about how he enjoys creating opportunities, for people who are struggling, to connect with others.
