What To Do With The Law?

This is a continuation of the sermon series on the sermon on the mount. This week's passage comes from Matthew 5:17-20.

Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored?

He also said, "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid."

Tim Keller in his book Counterfeit Gods says, “the Bible uses three basic metaphors to describe how people relate to idols. They love idols, trust idols, and obey idols.”

It may seem strange to worship an idol like a golden calf, however we are tempted every day by the idols of western culture. Listen in to learn more.

Many Americans may hear, “The meek will inherit the earth” (Mt. 5:5) and think this may be the most ridiculous thing Jesus ever said. That is unfortunate, because it misunderstands the words of Jesus.

Matthew 28

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Viktor Frankl survived the Holocaust, yet lost his wife, child and everyone he held dear. In the midst of such suffering, how did he find purpose, significance and meaning in life?
