• Saving Throes # 89 - A Look Ahead at 2025
    Jan 16 2025

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

This week I am once again consulting my crystal ball and providing my predictions of what the year ahead holds in store for the TTRPG industry. I also look inward, and re-establish some new resolutions for the year, in an attempt to make up for how short I came up with last year's resolutions! Of course one of my favourite things to do in these yearly episodes is to talk about the games that I am most looking forward to, that are slated for release this year. A number of these games are repeats from last year, because that's just how this industry goes sometimes! Better to delay a book to get it right than release it undercooked! Tune in and take note of my predictions and resolutions so we can come back 1 year from now to see how I did!

  • Pining for Pixels # 89 - Game of the Year 2024
    Jan 14 2025

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

It is finally time to put pen to paper and finalize what my overall favourite game of the year was for 2024. I was honestly surprised by how hard this was, especially after coming off of a particularly eventful 2023, I hadn't realized just how many good games we got in 2024 in comparison. Nonetheless, there can only be one at the top! In this case, I have 10 nominees, any of which could have just as easily been my number one pick, but like I said, there can be only one at the top. Although I went back and forth a lot, I always knew what the overall number one was going to be. After a long time painstakingly arranging my top 10 in order of my most favoured games of the year, I am finally ready to present it to the world. Tune to hear what games made the cut, as well as my extra bloated honourable mentions for this year!

Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

When I sat down to organize my thoughts on my favourite games from this past year, I hadn't realized there were so many that I was so enthralled with! This year I am going to go through my top 5 Games of the year and crown the champion, but I am also adding a few new categories in order to recognize some other games that, while not my ultimate favourites of the year, still all deserved some recognition for what they managed to do. Tune in to hear the amount of games that I just had to mention, and the new categories I wanted to recognize them with.

Happy New Year! With 2024 in the rear view mirror it is time to reflect on the major events of the year. I'll revisit my resolutions I made for 2024 and my predictions to see how close I came. It is also time for the preliminary game of the year awards, where I recognize several categories from platform specific best-of, to categories like Best VR game and most under-rated game you shouldn't miss! The only thing missing is the overall best game of the year for 2024, as that one needs a little more Tim in the oven (next week)! This is simply part 1 of my game of the year awards for 2024. Tune in to hear what prediction I got eerily close with, and what games are recognized as the best for their categories for 2024.

  • Saving Throes # 87 - New Years 2025 Special! A Look Back at 2024, Including My Predictions & Resolutions
    Jan 2 2025

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

At the end of the year I always like to reflect on everything that happened, and 2024 for the tabletop roleplaying world did not go as I thought it would! We had unanticipated attention from the mainstream and a record setting year of attendance at Gen Con and funding on Kickstarter amongst other things. Before we travel down that recent memory lane though, it is time to see how well I did with my predictions for 2024 and if I was able to keep the resolutions I had set out for myself. Tune in to hear how accurate I was, and what I was able to accomplish, but stick around after that for some fond recollections on the year that was 2024.

  • Pining for Pixels # 87 - Video Game Book Club: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (Part 2)
    Dec 31 2024

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

It is time for the conclusion of the Video Game Book Club episodes dedicated to my completion of Trails in the Sky FC! This game blew me away and I want to talk about the rest of it! Make sure to check out part 1 covering the first half of the game in Pining for Pixels # 84. This week is the 2nd and final part of my play through where I cover the last half of this game. As I noted before, I wanted to be sure I completed this game before its remake comes out next year, and I am VERY glad that I did it! I was left almost speechless by the end and when I look back at my journey with this game, I can't believe I held off on diving in for so long. This one is very much worth your time if you are into the golden age of Japanese developed RPGs, but it has so many quality of life features that you don't have to worry about adjusting to some seriously archaic designs. Tune in to find out why you shouldn't simply wait for the remake, and dive in today! Be warned I dedicate the last 5 mins of this episode to spoiler talk about the story, but prior to that I do my best to remain spoiler free, and provide ample warning when it is time to get into spoilers.

  • Saving Throes # 86 - Christmas 2024 Special! Christmas One Shot Ideas and Scenarios
    Dec 26 2024

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

It is a quiet time in the TTRPG industry, so I thought it would be fin to look for some good Christmas themed one shots for D&D! I had initially intended to come up with some of my own, but due to Christmas plans, I was not able to complete this. So instead I looked up some of the most recommended Christmas one shot pre written scenarios that are available on DMs Guild, as well as looking up some good festive plot hooks and scenario ideas that would work for a one shot, but require a DM to flesh out in their system of choice. Tune in to hear some pretty decent plot hooks and some that I riff on as I read them.
