We're about a week into this situation, playing nursemaid to both of them while trying to avoid contracting it ourselves.

This week on Random Song Encounters, we want to acknowledge the fires raging a couple of hours east of us in LA County. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by smoke, evacuation, loss of property, or loss of life. We also need to extend our gratitude to the brave first responders working tirelessly to bring the flames under control.

Typically, LA County is described as heaven on earth, but with ongoing fires, it has turned into hell on earth. For this reason, we are calling this week's Episode 25 "Hell Fire."

This week we conclude 2024 with our final episode of the year. And as luck would have it, our show falls on Christmas Day. Regardless of our location or circumstances, the Podcast continues to pop up on schedule.

We are multitasking this Christmas, broadcasting this morning from Rockwall, Texas, celebrating the holiday with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. But, immediately after the show, we head to the airport to spend Christmas evening and the first night of Hanukkah with our in-laws back home at our SoCal desert musical compound.

This week we present Episode 22, titled "Happy Holidays". However, we promise not to flood you more holiday tunes, as is common most shows and everywhere else over the last couple of months. Instead, we are incorporating a few select holiday tracks into our usual random playlist for the week providing an eclectic mix for your listening pleasure.

In this episode, we would like to first acknowledge another milestone for Random Song Encounters, having surpassed 1,000 songs played on the show as of Episode 18 while still adhering to our random programming and philosophy. This week, we present Episode 20, which we have titled "My Mood Swings." Beyond being random, the show focuses on the mood for each week and how moods influence the songs shared.

This week, for instance, there are more ballads than we usually include, which is a direct reflection of mood at the time. Who knows, it could become a trend!
