  • Ep. 9 - 12-Week Reset Program Pt. 4 - Integrating All The Pieces
    Jan 14 2022

This episode is part 4, and the conclusion, of our 12-week fitness and weight-loss reset program.  Please check out parts 1 through 3 if you haven't already, as this episode draws heavily on the elements of those prior podcasts.

In this podcast, I detail what a typical day looks like in terms of scheduling food, supplements, and training.  We also cover some additional tips and tricks to make the program as effective as possible, and I provide a brief update on how things are going so far for me now that I am two weeks into it.

The full integrated plan and additional tips are posted on the blog at perpetuallysore.com.  I suggest referring to that as needed to follow along with the program or to tailor it to your needs.

  • Ep. 8 - 12-Week Reset Program Pt. 3 - Supplement Plan
    Jan 5 2022

In this episode, we cover the supplements portion of the 12-week fitness and weight loss reset program, which is part three of the series.  Please check out parts 1 and 2 if you haven't already.

While supplements are completely optional for weight loss and muscle gains, for some people they work really well.  I have found, especially for endurance and energy, quite a few that have been effective for me.  I am also introducing some new ones that I haven't tried before to see what type of results I get.

If you prefer to reference the list of supplements I'll be using during this period in text form, check out the blog on perpetuallysore.com.  There are some comments in this podcast that are not included in the blog post.  However, the full list of supplements, their purpose, and some notes are there.

  • Ep. 7 - 12-Week Reset Program Pt. 2 - Exercise Plan
    Jan 3 2022

This episode continues our series on the 12-week fitness and weight loss reset program I am following, in hopes it will help you achieve your goals.  It is based upon multiple programs which I've created for people with successes up to triple-digit weight loss.

This time, we cover the exercise portion of the program, which includes five workouts to be done during the week in addition to your combat sports or martial arts training.  The programming is specifically tuned for weight loss and strength increases.

Please listen to the prior episode first, where we cover the diet aspect of the program.  Pairing this exercise plan with the diet is the best way to progress.

  • Ep. 6 - 12-Week Reset Program Pt. 1 - Diet Plan
    Jan 2 2022

    Welcome to 2022!

In this episode, I break down the diet element of my 12-Week Reset program which I am starting today.  This is not a "New Year, New You" resolution, nor a fad or trendy diet.  It is based upon multiple programs which I've created for people with successes up to triple-digit weight loss.

In my case, I'm looking to shed about 25 pounds that have crept up from holiday feasting and time off the mats due to injuries, and to restore my strength and conditioning to where it was earlier in the year.

This episode covers the high-level diet element of the program.  The next few episodes will cover the workouts, supplements, and other aspects which make it successful.

I hope you find this helpful if you are also working through losing some unneeded weight.  If you have any questions or comments, get in touch with us at perpetuallysore.com or on Instagram at perpetuallysore247.

  • Ep. 5 - New Year, Who Dis?
    Dec 31 2021

In this episode, we discuss New Year's resolutions, and what that means for people who are looking to get into martial arts or combat sports for health benefits at the start of the new year.

The number one thing we want to look at is how to convert the new year, new you mentality into a disciplined approach to martial arts to keep you going when the fad of the resolution wears off.

We also discuss why selecting martial arts over a traditional gym or other types of exercise is beneficial.

  • Ep. 4 - Training and Injuries
    Dec 31 2021

In this episode, we tackle the topic of injuries, including prevention, management, and rehabilitation.

Injuries are almost guaranteed to happen as combat sports fighters and martial artists.  Being prepared to deal with them effectively can reduce your time away from the mats, and optimize your time while out of your normal training routine.

We take a look at the standard RICE method, which has been the basis of sports injuries for years, as well as additional and alternate treatments, discussing the pros and cons of each.

We close the discussion by looking at some suggestions on injury prevention, as avoiding injuries in the first place is what we should strive for.

This episode was done a bit differently, as we note in the intro.  Take a listen and let us know your thoughts on the changes.
