All the kings who had come for Draupadee’s swayamvar came to know through their detectives that Draupadee had married the five sons of Paandu. This was a great surprise for everyone since they thought that the Paandavs had died in the fire at Vaarnavat. The biggest shock was in the camp of contingent from Hastinaapur. Duryodhan and the sons of Dhrutraashtr along with Karn and Shakuni were dumbfounded. Shakuni advised that they should immediately attack the Paandavs and kill them. The advice was countered by Bhurishravaa son of Somdutt. The contingent returned to Hastinaapur where Vidur learnt of the developments in Paanchaal and also informed Dhrutraashtr.
