Check a Pro Joe here from the Check A Pro Radio show, you know, surge protectors have been around for a while and we use them a lot in our homes. We use them to protect our computer equipment. We use them to protect our television. Uh, anything we really don't want to have go poof in case there's a surge, but not only are there, these smaller ones, you can plug in for individual outlets and so forth for individual appliances. They also have them for the whole house. I've asked Rodney Jessen to join me from out today to talk about surge protection. Hey, Rodney, how are you doing? Great Joe. Hey, it is great to have you here. We all know what the surge protectors are that we can buy at the store, uh, to plug into a small appliance and there's different, you know, ranges of, of something that might cost $5 or one that might cost $150. Uh, but you even go beyond that, can't you? Yes, that's correct. Uh, uh, we can put in a surge protector that will protect the whole house. As a matter of fact, if panels are upgraded now or in new homes, they're required by the code, uh, the National Fire Protection Association. The people that write the code book have figured out that we all have so many electronics in our home and surges happened for a number of reasons that a AAA fairly ordinary surge could cost someone thousands of dollars. So that's the real important reason. Right. We don't wanna have to replace that television, that computer or that appliance as frequently because surges happen all the time. It's not necessarily when your power gets shut down and comes back up. Uh, there's these like many surges that happen constantly. Right. It's, it's, there's so much going on with the grids now and the different types of ways of generating power and transmitting power. And also there's been some malicious activity that will go on to affect the community's power and it's not just the computer anymore. Our refrigerators have circuit boards in them, our washers. I just got a washing, uh, a clothes washer that talks to my phone. So all of these can be affected by a search. Oh, and not only that, uh, of course, the garage door opener that has circuitry in it as well. Almost everything has circuitry in it. And, um, well, you know, like your router in your home, the modem, right. That could go poof real quick. And actually, years ago back when those modems were hooked up to the phone lines, that's where a surge would often come through where the technician will come out and say it actually got fried from the phone line because it could have been a bolt of lightning or something that came in through that copper into the machine. So you really wanna have the whole house protected and it's not that expensive, is it? No, in the, in the scheme of things, it's very straightforward and going back to the phone line and so forth while we're there. If a person was having us do that, we could also check that and there's a, a new, um, they call it a bridge ground where we can tie that into it. Someone's still using landlines and protect the home against it. Getting in that way. Or if you have cable coming in from the cable company, that's another outside line. It's got to be grounded. Absolutely. Rodney. Thank you so much, Rodney Jessen from out today. I like the name of his company because if you need them, they'll be out today. Thanks Rodney. Appreciate it, buddy. Thank you.
