  • Summary

  • Operation Cordelia is an espionage-comedy told through “found audio” (news reports, tapped phone calls, bugged offices, and people secretly wearing wires) about one neurotic CIA agent’s attempt to stop a mass terror attack in 1970s Berlin.

With the US, UK, USSR, and France set to meet in West Berlin for a historic treaty signing, CIA officer, Vance Calhoun, discovers that an old enemy is out to destroy the event and possibly start World War III. Vance’s mission to stop the attack is complicated by an array of disparate forces. There’s an East German agent (and ex-lover) who’s secretly using Vance to pursue her own secret vendetta; US President Richard Nixon, who’s determined to win a Nobel Peace Prize no matter who has to kill to do it; and Vance’s own fragile psyche which is in the midst of a debilitating existential crisis. This is an espionage adventure that spans the globe - from clandestine meetings in West Berlin to the shoot-outs in Istanbul to epic Presidential rants in Washington DC.

Funny and very entertaining

I loved the structure - telling the story through recorded tape. Lead character is great and performance is superb. Loved it all.
