Celebrity Choreographer James Alsop sits down with host Jennifer Moxley to discuss her life-long love of dancing and how it led her to the sets of Beyonce music videos, Broadway, and feature films. James' Occupation as a Choreographer wasn't an easy road and she discusses the Obstacle of how she was othered in the dance world and called a specialty act along with trans-identified colleagues in her community. As a transgender Black woman, James says she's always been James and has always gravitated toward emulating the women in her life and women she saw on television. Inspired by legends such as Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Debbie Allen and so many more, James followed her love of dance despite all obstacles and barriers. James' unique combination dance style of jazz, ballet and contemporary technique, with accents of hip hop and funk started on Saturday mornings cleaning the house with her family. She's an identical twin and talks about how she finally found the language to identify her identity and the support and love of her family that followed. James is a creator, a truth teller, and sparkler.
