Happy Spring Semester! After our winter break, most of us are feeling ready to take on a new set classes, and to jump back into our weekly academic routines. But sometimes, we get swept up in our enthusiasm to “just get started” and forget to take some time to write down important dates or events that we don’t want to miss. Here to remind our lovely listeners of what to keep in mind this semester is Dean Mark Frascatore! We’re going over what students should plan for this spring, and maybe factor some different things into our 2025 vision boards. Let’s sit down together again at the Dean’s Desk!

It’s time for us to ring in the holiday season! With finals being over, all of us undoubtedly can’t wait to turn up our favorite holiday music, watch all of our nostalgic holiday films, and gather with friends and family as we celebrate the end of 2024. And while a lot of us experience the American version of Christmas, there are so many different varieties of holidays to mark the end of the year from all around the world. Well everyone, we have two very special guests in the studio today: Dr. Fernando Naranjo, Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management (who originally is from Ecuador), and Dr. Bingyang Fang, Assistant Professor of Marketing (who is originally from China). They’re here to talk about their family traditions from their childhoods, and how they each celebrate the holidays! Let’s tune into their stories, on our final episode of 2024!

Assistant Dean Kelli Asklar is back again this week to talk about transfer credits, building the perfect class schedule to fit into your weekly routine, and important steps to remember during the transfer process. Most importantly, she’s also here to tell us about her favorite holiday activity! Let’s once again stop in at Kelli’s Korner!

When looking to transfer to NU, there are so many things to consider: finances, scholarships, clubs, credits, and more. You also might be looking to speak to fellow students who have gone through the same process. Well, look no further everyone, because Hunter Frey is here to help ease the stress! A transfer student with an interest in Marketing, Hunter had to keep a lot of things in mind when it came to transferring to a new school. Let's listen to his advice, as well as learn about a brand new club he’s started for NU transfer students!

Transferring to a new school can seem like an insurmountable process at first. There’s a lot of important details to remember, such as submitting records, talking to an advisor, and making sure all of your credits from previous institutions get reviewed. No one understands this better than this episode’s guest: Emily Buell, our Associate Director of Transfer Admissions! She works specifically with transfer students, and she has a lot of insight to provide, and the steps you need to take to transfer into NU successfully. Let’s have Emily take the mic!

Can anyone believe how soon the fall semester is ending!? These last few weeks are most likely a tight schedule for everyone when it comes to studying for finals, making sure you’re all set for the spring, and of course eventually finding time to relax during your fall break. Amidst this crazy time, however, it’s important to mark a few important upcoming deadlines in your calendar. And who better to remind you than our wonderful Assistant Dean Kelli Asklar? For this episode of My NU Story, we’re talking about the Fed Challenge, led by Dr. Dennis Nsafoah. This is a group of students that are challenged to use current economic data and their knowledge of macroeconomics and monetary policy to create a set of recommendations for the US Federal Reserve. And this upcoming Spring, these students will have the wonderful opportunity to visit the Federal Reserve as part of the nationwide competition! Here to detail their personal experiences are current students Natalie Killion and Allison Shepard, who are participating in the challenge with specific goals in mind.
