Mums on Call

By: The Aunties
  • Summary

  • Mums on Call is the only mummy podcast not hosted by mums. We are advertising creatives who don’t have kids, but are on a mission to unveil the unspoken realities of being a working mum in the creative industry.

Join us as we take turns interviewing mums (and maybe even some dads) about their parenting journeys, their advice for future mums and their unfiltered take on how we can work to better retain and nurture parents in the workplace.

Need some specific motherly advice? ‘Ring in’ with a question for our guests, by leaving a voicemail or anonymous DM on our Instagram, @theaunties_gram.

This podcast is recorded and produced by Bang Bang Studios in Southbank, Melbourne. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations as the traditional owners of this land, and pay our respects to all First Nations peoples and their elders, past, present and emerging.

TRIGGER WARNING: Certain episodes may contain themes that are distressing to some listeners, such as miscarriage and fertility issues. Industry experts, Karen Ferry & Sharon Edmondston, discuss the ad-landscape as it was, as it is, and importantly, where it's going. What better way to round out our second season than by hearing from two powerful industry voices about the positive changes we've already seen and where to from here.

Karen regularly appears on Gruen, The Project, Today, plus across radio, podcasts, and news programs as an advertising and cultural commentator.

Sharon Edmondston is a Group Creative Director at M&C Saatchi and mum to an 18 and a 21-year-old. Sharon has been in this industry for over 27 years and is a passionate advocate for diversity and equality. She is the Co-Chair of FEMM&C – an M&C Saatchi employee-led network for women. In 2017, Sharon launched Women & Creative (W&C) at the Australian 3% Conference; an M&C Saatchi initiative tackling issues of gender inequality by celebrating positive stories from inside the agency and out.
