  • David was a member of Gay Sweatshop and became the company’s first full time administrator, he administered the Young People’s Theatre Scheme at the Royal Court, London and established his own production company DET Enterprises which produced Steven Berkoff’s ‘Greek’, he spent time in New York managing the well known, drag troupe ‘Bloolips’ before becoming the first full time director of the Australian Centre of the International Theatre Institute. Volume One covers his life from 1977-1980 and chart’s David’s journey through the evolution of gay theatre around the world at a time when the gay rights movement was fighting to be recognised. He allows us access to a world backstage, describing the many characters he met along the way, and documents the Arts and Theatre of that time. His diaries are witty, smart and sometimes scandalously truthful!
