• Ps Cil de Vries - "A Fresh Resolve"

The bible shows us many examples of kindness and one of those examples is the story of King David and Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth was living in a barren place, poor, destitute and lame until he was shown kindness by King David because of his love for his father Jonathan. Kindness is something we can all share with others, the ability to offer another person something that they didn't have before, the ability to receive God's love and salvation through Jesus Christ.

    Feb 7 2023

In Luke's Gospel chapter 14 Jesus teaches us about being a disciple and Jesus makes it clear that there is a cost to being his disciple and to weigh up that cost because no one starts a project without first seeing if they are able to finish it. Jesus didn't ask us to just be a believer but a follower, a disciple forsaking all. We may not all be called to the mission field but we are all called to a mission and that leads us to the cost of our salvation.

There is a restoration that's needed in the church today which we are all called to and one of those areas is a restoration to repentance and a desire for holiness. King David had a heart for repentance but so often no control when it came to certain sin which led to tragedy in his children. Our God is a God that loves us very much and He is always there for us no matter what we have done.

We all have those moments where we feel we just can't go on, we know the scriptures and yet our soul is weary and we've hit the wall. When we look at the story of Isaac even in times of famine he was able to see all that he had grow in abundance. Jesus teaches us to sow seed and dig wells.

    Feb 27 2023

French philosopher Blaise Pascal said "All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone”

While it's certainly not all problems but there is a truth that we must learn to be still and know that He is God and find the quietness for our soul to rest. King David understood that our soul finds rest in God alone and our salvation comes from Him.
