At age 20, Jenell Nyberg decided to drop out of college and move to a commune after everything in her life seemed to collapse in on itself. It is here that she acquires the name Bok Choy.

Years later, after facing unspeakable trauma and finally finding herself homeless and with a serious mental health diagnosis, she decides, against all odds, to ride her bicycle halfway around the country with the goal of making it to a family wedding in the mountains on the East Coast.
