  • Adio sits down with soon to be best selling author, Sara Church. Her book, Mending my Mind has just been released in paperback and other platforms. They talk about why Sara wrote the book and why its so important to her.  It’s well known that one-time, horrific events such as assault or a serious accident can cause trauma and PTSD.  What most people don’t know, however, is that trauma can also result from a series of less sudden events such as adverse childhood experiences that occur over an extended period of time. This variety of PTSD, known as Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), is just as damaging to those who suffer from it—but often goes unrecognized for lack of awareness, says mental health advocate Sara Church, author of the new book Mending My Mind. Sara’s life has been profoundly impacted by C-PTSD, which she likens to suffering death by 1,000 cuts inflicted slowly during the chronically stressful events of her childhood: parental substance abuse, neglect, poverty and abandonment. She says it’s crucial to spread the word about this important cause of trauma that can have lasting, adverse effects on individuals, families, and communities. Take a listen as Adio and Sara share their traumatic experiences and what they did to mend their minds.
