  • The Scarlet D: Ep5 When Scandal Leads to Deconstruction
    Jan 31 2025

Scandals. Lies. Leadership Failures. When these things play out before you they can lead you into a place of questioning and deconstruction. Some people call this discernment but there are times that we cannot see the dysfunction until we are out of the system or we have a catalyst event.

Religion Business and Church Disrupted are two voices who are calling out the church not because they hate it but because they want to see it function in a healthier way.

Have you been impacted by church or ministry scandal? Or was it another life event that caused you to question?

    Jan 16 2025

*Content Warning* We begin to discuss Toxic Teachings on sex at the 38min mark

Cognitive Dissonance and cult like mentality often leads to deconstruction. Deconstruction can happen when someone begins to question the belief structure of the institution they are apart of.

When leaders like, Mark Driscoll, make statements of "get on the bus or get run over by the bus" that is a massive problem. When healing teachings go awry and lead people astray. Money money money! - This can go two very different ways, you can have a church that teaches you that money is evil OR that you will get all of the things.

  • Navigating the Messy Middle of Deconstruction
    Jan 4 2025

In this episode we are talking about our messy middle. This one was hard for us, maybe me (Lauren) the most. We touched on a lot of vulnerable parts of our journey through deconstruction. We discuss the different practices we explored as we questioned our faith; things like communing with nature, exploring "new age" practices and ascribing different names to God. Teasing apart things such as sin, relating to God and the deep wrestling if we truly believe the Bible where it says, "he who seeks shall find" (Matthew 7:8)

We would love to hear your thoughts. Is there any part of our journey that you are vehemently against?

Have you ever thought about the things we bring up?
