    May 28 2022
Life is a journey—a process of discovering who and what you are. Sometimes your journey can lead to opportunities that require you to stand on your faith. In this presentation, John testifies how Christ’s love has unfolded in his life and sustained him along his journey of contending with a disability. John’s message centers on how the Cross of Jesus Christ is the key that unlocks the mystery of suffering and brings value to life. He offers the listener a deeper understanding of God’s unconditional love for us, and how that love frees us to live more peacefully and completely.

  • Episode 4: 2022 02 25 - Fr. Alfonso Hernández, Rector and President SVDP Regional Seminary, and Deacon Ismar Martinez, Archdiocese of Miami
    Feb 26 2022
Fr. Alfonso Hernández was appointed Rector and President of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in 2020. Growing up in West Palm Beach and attending Cardinal Newman HS, Fr. Hernández earned a BS and graduate degrees from the University of Florida. He entered SVDP in 1988 and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Palm Beach in 1992. He also earned an STL in Systematic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Studies from North-West University in South Africa. He also served as Pastor of St. Juliana Parish in WPB for 14 years and has served SVDP in various capacities since 1997, most recently as Academic Dean and Vice-Rector. Deacon Ismar Martinez was ordained in the archdiocese of Miami in 2019. Born and raised in Cuba, he was an atheist at 23. He was ordained a deacon at 47 — “the first rafter deacon” in the archdiocese, he says. Deacon Martinez was among more than 32,000 Cubans who boarded homemade rafts to escape the island in 1994. He turned 23 on the raft, then found God, embraced the faith, and received his sacraments at the naval base in Guantanamo — the tent city erected while the rafters waited to be admitted to the U.S. through what would later be known as the “wet foot, dry foot” policy.
