Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito, and now Colin Farrell. Each of these men has been The Penguin from Batmans' rogues' gallery but though he hasn’t donned the top hat and monocle - Farrell may be delivering the definitive portrayal of the character. First seen in Matt Reeves 2022 The Batman - Farrell was easily the standout as Penguin. Now we head back to the Iceberg Lounge with Oz in Max’s newest series - The Penguin. Now unless you’ve been locked up in Arkham then you know that THIS is THE show fans are talking about. Farrell’s portrayal of the low-ranking Penguin in the Falcons family and of course the incredible Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone is something special to watch. The 1991 remake of the classic Cape Fear starring Robert DeNiro as the maniacal Max Cady, another ‘91 flick this time with Julia Robert’s in Sleeping with the Enemy, the 1987 masterpiece Fatal Attraction which many say set the tone for psychical/erotic thrillers for years to come and last but certainly not least, arguably the Greatest of All-Time, not just in the genre of psychological suspense thrillers but film in general, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins is his Oscar winning performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter - The Silence of the Lambs. While at a glance these may not seem the type of films to frighten you - we guarantee you they are each truly and utterly terrifying in their own distinct way! A King on more than one occasion on-screen Jones’ voice and presence are always undeniable. Playing royalty seemed easy as the man exuded regality. Sadly Jones passed at the age of 93 on September 9, 2024. As huge fans here at Just Another Friday Night we couldn’t think of a better topic than to celebrate the life of a true American icon. From voicing Darth Vader in Star Wars to being King Mufasa in The Lion King, Jones’ voice was unmatched. His theater work is impeccable and his silver screen work is indelible. We’re going to discuss our favorite pieces of his enormous body of work and invite you to share yours. By now most have heard that latest Star Wars installment on Disney+ “The Acolyte” will not be back for a second season. The news is divisive at best with some naysayers now supporting the show and others simply glad it’s gone. We previously covered the first 4 episodes of the series and then due to scheduling had to push back our conclusion of the final 4 episodes. It seems an appropriate and fitting time to discuss the conclusion of the series, especially with the fate of some characters being unresolved. House of the Dragon season 2 has concluded! But The Dance of Dragons seems to only have begun. And in true Game of Thrones fashion we’re left with more questions and more unresolved plots. So if you thought you were getting an end or even all out war - it would seem we’re a ways off. Two more seasons have been announced and while these episodes were well acted and had excellent story building we just can’t shake the feeling of wanting more and wondering what these next to seasons hold.
