He's initially reluctant, yet intrigued by the prospect of finally making sense of unsettling events that happened in his life years ago. The mystery begins as Adam sets up the story, revisiting his early life  moving to New York City in the late 90's; and meeting one of the people who will, in time, shift Adam's life immeasurably.     Adam  becomes more comfortable discussing his past, and another job, during which he meets the enigmatic Dylan Lodge, who quickly takes Adam under his wing.  Dylan gives Adam a book; the mystery within will prove to be important to Adam. Though they become  fast friends, Adam also recalls some unsettling moments regarding Dylan, which set up their relationship going forward. Adam makes a big change, content with leaving his past behind.
