  • Ch. 2: The Son Of Man, or, The Antithesis
    Jan 18 2025
Part II, Chapter 2, "The Son of Man: Or, The Antithesis," from James Aitken Wylie's 'The Great Exodus': This chapter contrasts the kingdoms of the Beast and the Son of Man, highlighting their opposing natures and the unfolding of their respective reigns throughout Revelation. The Beast's kingdom, characterized by carnality, sensuality, tyranny, and idolatry, is gradually revealed through a series of increasingly powerful empires. Conversely, the Son of Man's kingdom, characterized by spiritual authority, justice, and truth, begins humbly but ultimately triumphs, ultimately leading to a peaceful and blessed world. The chapter emphasizes the contrasting symbolic imagery used to depict both kingdoms, ultimately highlighting the eventual triumph of good over evil. Regarding these seven kingdoms, Hoffman's view is the following: "The five kings which are fallen are the Assyrian, Chaldean, Persian, Greek, and Antiochus; Rome's Caesar is the sixth; the seventh, whom John expects, is the Germanic Hengstenberg gives the same list of monarchies as forming the seven heads of the beast, only he leaves out Antiochus, and prefixes Egypt. (Vol. 2:468, 459.) Ebrard's seven heads are the same as Hoffmans. Anberlen (p. 271, 272) agrees with Heng- stenberg, and SO does Principal Fairbairn, who, almost alone among modern British expositors of Prophecy takes this view of the seven heads. (See his able work on Prophecy.) The arrangement the author has adopted is somewhat different, and has this merit, that the seven monarchies embraced in his list run in the line of the image, and are all indicated in it.#

  • P2: Ch.1 "The Crisis Of The Church & The World"
    Jan 14 2025
Part II, Chapter 1, "The Crisis of the Church and the World," from James Aitken Wylie's 'The Great Exodus': Wylie argues that the crucifixion of Christ marked a turning point in the history of the world and possibly even the universe. The world had been descending into darkness and sin, symbolized by the dominance of idolatrous empires and their oppressive systems. Christ's sacrifice, however, marked the beginning of an upward movement toward light and redemption. The author suggests that this change was not limited to Earth but affected the spiritual world as well. The chapter sets the stage for the "exodus" of the Church from this era of bondage and lays the groundwork for the ensuing events of the apocalypse. Intro music https://uppbeat.io/t/alex-besss/psycho

  • 14. Length Of The Judgement Day
    Dec 28 2024
Chapter 14 centers on Wylie's unique perspective on the final judgment. He posits a 75-year process (1792-1867), arguing that the destruction of the idolatrous world power won't be swift but a deliberate, multifaceted unfolding. This extended judgment allows for repentance and aligns with various prophetic timelines. Wylie uses the seven stages of the judgment as a type of the ten plagues of Egypt, highlighting the thoroughness and precision of God's action." Intro music https://uppbeat.io/t/alex-besss/psycho

  • 13. The Three Times And A Half, Or Third Chronological Line.
    Dec 21 2024
Chapter 13, "The Three Times and a Half," of *The Great Exodus* discusses the third chronological line in biblical prophecy, which intersects with the other two at the French Revolution of 1792. The author explains how this period, lasting three and a half times (or 1260 years), represents the time when the saints are given into the hands of the "little horn," symbolizing the papacy. The chapter details the papacy's rise to power and its eventual downfall, interpreting various symbols from the Book of Daniel to support this analysis. It emphasizes the transition from the dominance of pagan idolatry to papal idolatry at the midpoint of this period (around A.D. 532), highlighting the connection between religious and political events. intro music https://uppbeat.io/t/alex-besss/psycho
