  • Summary

  • Welcome to The Guilty Greenie Join hosts Cait Bagby, seasoned sustainability writer and storyteller and Sarah Ferris true crime podcaster and a very green around the gills greenie - (read “Cait’s guinea pig!”) Ever feel that if you’re not living in a cave, hand spinning the wool from your hand reared, yet free ranging llamas you’re pooping all over this glorious planet. Then you're not alone! We want to get real for a minute and focus on what we can achieve because we have no intention of moving into a cave, we sure as hell can't spin any wool…… but we probably wouldn't say no to a few llamas! We are tired of perfectionism in trying to live more sustainably. So we're here to chat about our own guilt, share our own journeys and just add a bit of levity in our attempts and fails to be more eco friendly. And it’s fair to say that the failures will often outweigh the successes. We are going to share our own journeys, the good, the bad, and probably the laughable as well. If you, like Sarah, don’t know your carbon footprint from your tennis elbow but know you can do better for this gorgeous planet that we are crapping all over then you have met your tribe! And stay tuned for Cait’s challenge of the week, will it end in sunshine and rainbows or be a damp catastrophic wash out?

Sarah Ferris - A self-proclaimed "green around the gills" Greenie, navigating the complexities of sustainable living. Episode Summary: In this episode, Cait and Sarah dive into the world of wine to explore its environmental footprint. Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or just enjoy an occasional glass, this episode sheds light on the growing impact of climate change on vineyards, how production is shifting, and how sustainable practices are evolving in the wine industry. The hosts break down the differences between conventional, organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, and they even challenge you to rethink your wine choices. The challenge: Sarah embarks on a taste test to see if she can tell the difference between conventional and organic wines. Challenge of the Week: Sarah takes on a taste test challenge to compare conventional and organic/biodynamic wines and determine if there’s a discernible difference in taste. Can she taste the difference? Tune in to find out! Resources Mentioned: Look for USDA Organic or DEMETER-certified labels when choosing your wine to support sustainable practices. Watch for eco-friendly wine practices like using ducks for pest control and moving vineyards to climate-friendly areas. Learn more about the environmental and social implications of wine production.
