Well you surely can gain knowledge when you read. You can learn how to communicate with others by having the ability to read and write for others to get knowledge. More than knowledge though is the POWER you can have by reading God's word.
John 1:1-3 says "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."
Reading the Word and learning the Word puts the Power of Jesus inside you. Having that Power in you gives you unlimited opportunity to not just share it but to speak it through you into others.
Our culture revolves around power but as a believer, the only power we need is the power of the Holy Spirit in us and when we read God's Word, we have the POWER to speak life and light into the world.

Jesus gave his disciples a challenge and command while He was with them before He ascended to heaven. Go out and disciple others. He promised He would give them an Advocate to be with them on their mission, The Holy Spirit. Not only did He give them the Holy Spirit, but as believers in Jesus, we too have become disciples and are called to disciple others as well with the Holy Spirit in us and guiding us.
Greg Ogden wrote a book {Discipleship Essentials} and gave us an outline of steps we can use to make disciples. While Juan and John may be using this outline, the Bible is the final authority in discipleship training.
Join us as we get into what it means to be making disciples and where to start.

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28.18-20).

When you think of or hear the word "disciple", what comes to mind?
The Apostles that followed Jesus? Maybe even those that followed a cult that drank some bad kool-aid.
Whatever comes to mind, have you ever thought of yourself as a disciple? If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then you know what, you ARE a disciple.
WHAT IS A DISCIPLE? One who responds in faith and obedience to the gracious call and journey to be more like Christ. ( A follower of Jesus )
Today Juan and John will be talking about what it means to be a disciple and how we can become a better disciple or even disciple others.
The three things that the Holy Spirit will use to allow Christ to grow in you are Vulnerability, Truth and Accountability.
Being a disciple is serious business,and a lifelong process of getting rid of the old self while allowing Jesus to be more alive in us. The only way to become the person God is calling you to be is to get rid of the "old self" and be obedient to Christ.

In this weeks episode, John and Juan dig deeper into some of the characteristics of being a disciple. Today's topic will be the subject of prayer and what it means to commune with God.
Not just to talk to, but listen to God. Taking the intentional time to spend listening for the voice of God. Either through another person, being present where God is but also through the small whisper of the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Being obedient is a key in allowing the voice of God to lead you into where God wants you to be.

In our first few episodes, we discussed the subject of commitment, now we will begin to talk about spiritual disciplines and our first is the subject of reading God's word.
The Apostle John wrote first in his book in verse 1 in chapter 1,
1.In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2 He existed in the beginning with God.
3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
We see in these 4 verses what happens when we read God's word, the more we read, the better we know Jesus and knowing Jesus means we get to know God.Read His word daily
