“I brainstorm but then when I’m writing, I start to have different ideas coming from different parts of my mind and then I start to mix things up. When I start to mix things up, I lose control and when I lose control, I write, write, write and then I run out of time and I haven’t said what I want to say and I don’t have time to check my essay and I start to freak out. “

One of my biggest strategies for helping my students get a 7+ band score is working on brainstorming. This week, as I was giving feedback on an essay to a student, we got into a discussion about how helpful brainstorming is to getting a 7 and I just had to share.
