Imagine taking a moonlit walk along a winding country lane. As you turn the corner, you spot a cosy cottage with smoke billowing from its chimney. You see the inhabitants sitting in front of a blazing hearth through the candlelit windows. They notice you peering through the window and seem surprised by your presence. You decide to come back the next day when it's light outside. However, as you return, a chill creeps up your spine. Instead of the welcoming cottage, you find only a pile of rubble, overgrown with a century of bushes and weeds.

In her talk for Solstice titled "Phantom Fairy Cottages” Claire Casely shares eerie stories and theories about haunting landscapes, ghostly houses, and surprising connections to modern-day encounters with fairies and folklore.

Lauren dreamt of fairies who were asking for her help. Their home in the Forest of Dean 🥬was threatened with destruction, along with all the stories held within the trees. Moved by the fairies' plea, I set out for the forest in August to listen and offer assistance. My journey is intertwined with excerpts from "True Tales of the Fairies of the Forest of Dean" by Dean Bryant-Duncan. 🧚‍♀️
