Into The Light with Crazy Cait - Episode 5: Mental Health, Part 1 | Getting Real About My Mental Health
I asked one of my clients what topic would he like to hear about on the podcast and he said hands down, mental health. So, I was all prepared to show up for today's episode and begin tacking this very important subject.
There was only one problem. I wasn't in the right frame of mind with my own mental health to discuss it. And opening up and talking about my own mental health is very difficult for me. So I asked one of my people, Ben Surrat, to join me again on the show, to help me get raw and get real, and open up about my struggles in managing all the things.
This episode is about showing you the real me, to talk about being human, my struggles as a business owner and a young female entrepreneur, and how even I have to work hard at practicing what I preach.
Let's freakin' send it!
Notes to help you Tap Into Your Inner Healer:
- When I take on a project, I go all in, and launching this podcast has resulted in other aspects of my life falling by the wayside.
- This week I found myself trying to tap back into back into my business and my life outside of my business.
- I have a tendency to overthink things and stress out in moments that maybe don't really need to be stressful.
- Sometimes you need to take a step back from the stress and change your story.
- If I step out to work on projects outside of the business, I feel guilty that I am not always available for my people. It really gets to me when I do not have the time to connect with my team one on one, consistently
- We have worked hard to build a culture where everyone can feel good and feel healthy. The happier and healthier my team is, that will feed right into our client's experience.
- While I have gratitude to my team for stepping up in their roles, which has allowed me to step out and take on projects outside of my business, I also get FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
- Then comes the domino effect, and I question if am I giving enough to family, and friends, and myself.
- When I got the help I needed inside my business, someone to take over for things that were bogging me down, things that I had been doing for so long, I didn't know what to do and started floundering a bit.
- I felt a sense of grief in letting that go and giving up control, wondering where is my place now.
- In getting out of my comfort zone, especially with this podcast, to get the message out about taking control of your wellness, some days I feel like I am conquering the world. Other days the little gremlins pop their head out and fill me with negative self talk.
- I go through feeling like I am not doing enough, like I'm running out of time, and left wondering what did I accomplish today?
- Imposter syndrome sets in. Who am I to do...well any of the things I am doing.
- To manage the roller coaster, go back to your why, what's your purpose.
- Sometimes, just showing up is enough of an accomplishment.
- Lean into your people, lean into the experts, lean into anyone who can help take things on that you may be having a hard time doing.
- If you're a business owner, hire a business coach.
- Give gratitude for the grace that others give you. And pass it on.
- Remember, self care is not selfish, it's essential.
