Riley and Derek start the show by poking a little fun at John Tortorella’s recent postgame press conference, and talking about each other’s past weekends. Jumping over to some hockey talk the boys discuss the Philadelphia Flyers struggles and being in last place, Sam Ersson’s injury, Aleksei Kolosov, and a couple sick snipes from the Fly Boys this past week. Moving on they discuss Dylan Holloway taking a puck to the neck and going to the hospital, Jalen Chatfield’s fall in warmups, and Alex Ovechkin’s hot start.

NHL Mental Performance & Player Development Coach Vinny Malts joined us in studio! He talks to us about how he started working with Edmonton, the misconceptions about the terms “mental performance coach” and being “mentally weak," the patience you need working with hockey players, and advice to parents with kids playing youth sports. Going ahead we discuss Malts coaching in junior hockey with Danbury, when Vinny decided to pursue this career, working with prospects, dealing with players when they create their own self doubt, players dealing with coaches, dealing with adversity, and a ton more. The discussion continues jumping over to some Flyers talk, the way Danny Briere is bringing the culture back, prospects he’s excited for like Noah Powell, and building through the draft.
