Enjoy Your Life Including Your Work

“I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil.” -Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Many years ago, back when I was in school, I worked food service. From time to time I worked the salad bar. Let me tell you, it was some work.

One of my co-workers always did her job. She wasn’t lazy. But she had to be the most lifeless joyless person that I’ve ever worked with- at least until closing time when she finally perked up and worked at superhuman speed to get out early.

Be it in the home, out of the home, or remote from home, we spend a lot of our adult lifetimes working. Being joyless and lifeless is no way to go through that time. We spend too much time working not to enjoy it.

So love your family. Love your friends. Love your neighbors. Love your food and drink. When working, do it will all your might and love it too either for itself or because of what it allows you to do.
