  • In December 1966, during Bruce Springsteen's senior year at what was then known as Freehold Regional High School, his hometown was rocked by a double killing discovered at the home of one of the school's teachers. Ernest Furblur, 28 at the time, coached a highly competitive boys' gymnastics team and taught physical education at the school. When Furblur came home from work on Dec. 2, 1966, his 22-year-old wife and infant son were missing. Three days later, police found their bodies inside the Furblur home.
