  • Debra Mark, News Anchor & Voiceover Talent
    Sep 18 2024

Please welcome to our show a voice you know well, award-winning newscaster @DebraMark from @KFIam640’s @JohnKobyltShow, joining us today not to tell someone else’s story, but her own. It’s a very personal story, one she wants to share for #SuicidePreventionMonth.

Most of us who know Debra would describe her as cheerful and always positive. She grew up in the Valley, her parents divorced when she was young, and she worked hard to make it in the news business. She is also married with two grown children. But twenty years ago, her life came to a hault when she got an email from her mother, saying Debra and everyone in the family would be better off without her.

That was the last time she ever heard from her mom. In fact, it was Debra who found her mother. The story she tells is terribly sad and tragic, because no one saw it coming. So she wants to shine a spotlight on this serious mental health issue for
anyone else out there going through something similar, or thinking about it.

Please join us on this special addition of #DeborahKobyltLIVE on all video and audio podcast platforms. And invite any family and friends, too. I’m your host, #deborahzarakobylt , and I’m honored to have you with us

  • Scott Ryan, Author, Designer, Publisher
    Sep 18 2024

Publisher and author Scott Ryan is like Google when it comes to TV and film. He knows the genres intimately, and has written niche books about everything from Letterman to Streisand. Today, he joins us to discuss his latest book, “The Last
Days Of Cinema,” which is a brilliant look at cinema in the 90’s and the impact those films had on pop culture at the time and in retrospect, today.

Scott selected twenty-five films to for his book from thousands made in the 1990’s, from Goodfellas to Magnolia and so many others classics, and he was very strategic in his selection. He’s analyzed how films of the 90s shaped our culture,
which was the last decade before social media took over and influenced millions. Having just returned from the #VeniceFilmFestival, I saw some magnificent films, but I’ll admit there’s a difference between films today and 30 years ago. I’ll ask him about that, perhaps it’s because of streaming, with less people collectively going to the movies?

Scott has written many books including “Last Days of Letterman,” “Barbra Streisand The Music,” “Moonlighting,” and others that capture a moment in our culture that we all shared. Now, it’s different, not better or worse, but just different.
And it’s not going back. Scott is also a publisher and founded Fayetteville Mafia Press, a boutique publishing company. He admits he’s “living his dream” through his work, and where he lives in Sarasota, Florida, which I also call home (part time). There’s a lot to talk about.

Please join me on all video and audio platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE and @TheSarasotaPodcast. I’m your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it’s my pleasure to welcome you here. Have a question for Scott? DM me and I’ll make sure to ask.

  • David Kessler, Grief Specialist & Author, “Finding Meaning: The SIXTH STAGE of GRIEF”
    Sep 11 2024

Please welcome to our show David Kessler, a leading expert on grief and loss, who will be discussing the different stages of grief along with his book, “Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief.” Like most people, I’ve had my fair share of grief, and it rocked me in way I could barely recognize myself. I can say I wish I was introduced to David sooner, but everything has
    a place and time.

David’s personal experience as a child witnessing a mass shooting while his mother was dying undoubtedly had a profound effect on him. He went on to teach physicians, police officers, and first responders about grief and how to best handle grief. But he wasn’t prepared for what followed, which was the untimely death of his 21-year-old son. That profound grief prompted him to write his latest book, “Finding Meaning,” which has helped thousands do the same. Also, grief extends beyond death. It
includes the loss of a relationship, job, or something of meaning that extends to loss. He will talk about that, too.

Please join me in welcoming David on all video and audio platforms of #deborahkobyltlive , and invite your friends, too, particularly anyone who is grieving. I’m your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it’s my pleasure to welcome you here.

    Aug 21 2024

Please welcome our shows Alessandra Repini, who wrote, “THE ITALIAN LADY: The
Perfect Guide To Making Yourself ever Cheerful, Classy and Admired.”
Alessandra talks about how to discover the “modern day dolce vita and enjoying it
wherever you are in the world,” which is another subtitle to her book. Have you ever
noticed how Italian women always seem to look elegant, cook with finesse, and just
seem to have an incredible warmth? Perhaps I’m biased, but I think they do, and
Alessandra writes about that, everything from fashion, to furniture and food (the
three F’s). She also talks about travel and art in her book, how to stay fit and healthy,
and it all follows what’s natural to the Italian lifestyle. Alessandra lives in Italy with her
family, maintains impeccable style, and she shares some tips on how we can absorb
some of these Italian ways, too.
Please join us on all video and audio platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE,
#LittleItalyPodcast and #LittleItalyOfLAPodcast, and we encourage you to invite your
friends, too. I’m your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it’s a pleasure to have you as

I’m thrilled to welcome to our show, Joshua M. Greene, who, in his own words, says he’s spent much of his life’s work “sharing extraordinary stories about extraordinary people.”

Mr. Greene spent countless years practicing yoga and meditation with George Harrison, and eventually wrote “Here Comes The Sun,” a biography that chronicles the spiritual and musical journey of former Beatle. We’ll ask him about that. Joshua is
also a renowned Holocaust scholar and filmmaker, whose books have sold more than a half-million copies worldwide, including “Unstoppable,” “Justice at Dachau,” and books for young adults, including “The Girl Who Fought Back,” and “Signs of Survival, A Girl on Schindler’s List.” We’ll ask him about all of them.

    Festival.

  • Susan Lieu, Author, "The Manicurist’s Daughter Memoir"
    Aug 7 2024

Author, playwright, performer, and TEDx speaker Susan Lieu joins us to talk about her tell-all book, “The Manicurist’s Daughter,” along with her one-woman theatrical show, 140 Pounds: How Beauty Killed My Mother, which has been on a 10-city sold out national tour.

About Susan: Her family are refugees from the Vietnam War, escaping to California in the 1980s after five failed attempts. Her mother successfully opened two nail salons, and life seemed to be going just fine, until one day when Susan was 11. Her mother died suddenly from a botched tummy tuck, with little mention of the incident even at her funeral.

So, for the next twenty years, Susan looked for answers about what happened, and also why her mother felt the need to change her body. Did she struggle with body image issues? Was it pressure? Susan finally uncovered some disturbing facts, and which we will talk with her about, as well as the impossible ideal of beauty.

Please join me in conversation with Susan Lieu about grief, trauma, and determination to get to the truth. And invite your friends, too. Our show, #DeborahKobyltLIVE is available on all video and audio podcast platforms. I’m your host,
#DeborahZaraKobylt, and thanks for joining us.
