As we dive into John 19 and talk about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, were pulling out three things that really stood out to us. The first being of Pilate; as he struggles with finding Jesus guilty of anything, he is overcome by the pressure of the thousands gathered telling him what to do. The next is that Jesus ensures that His mother (Mary) is cared for by the one he loves. Lastly, we will discuss "it is finished" and the statement's impact on us. We know there is a lot to unpack here and talk about, and we cover it all, but these three things are what we feel the Holy Spirit is leading us to share. No chatbot script, straight from the Spirit. If you get to the end, you will see that Ben needed to take a moment to sit and collect himself before closing out.

We dive deep into the topic of shame and how it can hold us back from living the abundant life God designed for us. Shame can be an overwhelming and debilitating emotion, but rest assured, there is hope!

Step 1: Seek First the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33) The first step to breaking free from shame is to prioritize seeking God's kingdom above all else. By seeking His presence, we invite Him to transform our hearts, heal our wounds, and reveal His purpose for our lives. Through heartfelt prayer, studying His Word, and cultivating a personal relationship with Him, we discover the unconditional love and acceptance that can liberate us from the chains of shame.

Step 2: Embrace God's Forgiveness and Grace One of the greatest gifts God offers us is His forgiveness and grace. No matter the mistakes we've made or the shame we carry, God's love remains unwavering. By accepting His forgiveness, we can let go of the burdens of shame, knowing that we are redeemed and made new in Christ. This step encourages us to lean on God's grace and extend that same grace to ourselves and others, fostering a culture of compassion and freedom

Step 3: Embody Your God-Given Purpose and Identity God has uniquely designed each of us with purpose and identity. To overcome shame, we must embrace the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. By aligning our lives with God's purpose, we step into the fullness of who He created us to be. This step encourages us to embrace our gifts, passions, and talents, using them to make a positive impact in the world and bring glory to His name.

We see a lot happen in this chapter of John this week during our Bible study. First, we see Jesus cross a river to enter a garden (don't worry, Lauren will sing it in the video) red because of all the blood from the lambs being sacrificed. We then head to seeing Peter courageously slice a man's ear and, shortly after, distance himself from Jesus. This stems from what we see as shame and festers in Peter and becomes much bigger. We believe the rooster crowing is more than just a coincidence. This is at around the fifteen-minute mark. I mean, let's be real is anything from God a coincidence? We then head on the not-so-noble Pilot, who is only on the throne he is on from a marriage to a granddaughter of Ceasers. We continue this story next week with a big one.
