• Fire Fraud To Cover Bad Wine Business
    May 16 2023

In 2005, Mark Anderson committed arson in the building his own business resided  in an attempt to cover up poor business practices. The sparking of this idea eventually led to the destruction of 4.5 million bottles of wine worth $250 million alongside the burning of multiple other businesses residing in the Wines Central Warehouse at the time. Mark passed away in January of 2023 following his compassionate release from prison, a release many people disagreed with.

I hope you guys enjoyed this slightly shorter episode, I think I liked the unscripted format for simpler tales but let me know what you guys think! :)

  • Wine Country Fraud - Hill Wine Company's Stealing and Deception
    Apr 14 2023

Not all wine country crime is bloody murder! About as family friendly as it can get on this show, today I'm discussing a controversial former Napa Valley winery and the accusations of wrongdoing associated with them. This episode's case developed between 2013 & 2014, had court time between 2015 & 2016 and has yet to come to a final conclusion. All of the information in this episode was organized based on what was in reported articles at the time.

  • Heartless Mare Murder: Kunde Estate
    Dec 10 2022

In 2003, after a night of drinking two young men chased and struck down a retired former race horse. This is the story of the crime itself and the trial that followed, but I'll also be sharing relevant backstory related to the Kunde family and property. Tune in to also hear where the murdered mare's former owner is now, her story is a cool one!

If you ever get the opportunity to visit Sonoma County or find yourself passing by the Kunde property, plan a stop and taste some of their legendary family wines! Tour the property or join the Kunde's for one of their community driven property hikes.

There have been a lot of learning opportunities in producing this podcast and I've LOVED doing it all myself! I know the audio isn't perfect in these past few episodes, but I've been taking note of everything that sounds off so I can improve and do better next time.

For anyone who doesn't know, this show is my senior project for my BA in Communications and Media Studies but it's also a passion project and I look forward to seeing where "Crime Beneath the Vines" takes me.
