The realities of getting around an apparition site in a different country is explored in this week’s podcast.

I visited the “Our Lady of Guadalupe” apparition site in Mexico City a number of years ago now. Recalling my experience in today’s podcast, specifically getting there and also walking up “Tepeyac Hill” becomes more vivid as the years go by.

The actual experience is a paradox of inspiration, research, detailed planning, speculation, unexpected challenges, insecurity, confidence, blind faith and timing melded together, in an amalgamation of reward and relief, tension and finally peace.

My desire to see and walk the grounds where the Virgin Mary appeared to St Juan Diego over 500 years ago just came to my attention out of the blue (as have all my other tours to various apparition sites in the world.)

And sharing those travels with my lovely wife who has now transitioned to Heaven makes all those investments of time during life more meaningful with each passing day…

My take away for this one is the reward of persistence and perseverance in the face of the unknown and unexpected. And also, most importantly, to have total faith in the Virgin Mary whose requests go to her son for giving overarching protection for those on pilgrimages.

In this case a visit to climb “Tepeyac Hill” at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica and Shrine apparition site in Mexico City.

May the Virgin Mary intercede for your prayers to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Part 18- This is the epilogue and final installment from a weekly reading of my first book “The Constant Procession.”

It includes reflections I gleaned during the writing of the book and the feelings I experienced while visiting apparition sites where the Madonna has appeared.

At her encouragement during these apparitions, people have experienced feelings of Faith and Hope and Comfort and Encouragement that is so lacking in the world today.

Also while working on publishing these weekly podcast over the three months it entailed, I found that the global challenges of the day found solutions from the Holy Mother’s apparition guidance to seers in times past.

Part 17- This is the seventeenth and final installment of my first book “The Constant Procession.”

NOTE: These final chapters were written before the current war between the Ukraine and Russia broke out.

The time period I wrote about began in 1922 when the Ukraine was totally controlled by the USSR.

In 1991, the USSR broke into the numerous independent countries that included the Ukraine.

Russia became the most powerful country in the region and this distinction continues today.

Chapter 28 continues to describe this earlier time period when Ukrainian churches were under siege during the times of the USSR’s religious suppression. However, it was Ukrainian Immigrants to North America who kept them going during this suppression.

The final chapter is about apparition sites where the Virgin Mary has appeared. They offer hope for a timeless mode of being for those in the constant procession...

Medjugorje, does not come to mind as a vacation spot. But it has inspired visiting pilgrims to spread the Madonna's words.

For young people, who have not lived more than thirty years, this area of the world is typically not on their radar. For those who have lived a bit longer, there remains a dark mental imprint. A remembrance that recalls brutality inflicted on people within this region as they experienced civil war in the 1990’s. Fighting caused by the breaking up of Yugoslavia.

For me, the news reporting during that period of the civil war did little to help explain the confusing jumble of puzzling information that ominously included atrocities, genocide and war crimes.

Yet this area is where the Madonna appeared. She offered to the world a surprising counterpoint to humanities deeds. It’s amazing to me that even during that civil war pilgrims from around the world continued to converge on Medjugorje, which seemed to be located in the middle of the warfare.

The Virgin Mary appears at Medjugorje in Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina) in June 1981. Her earliest messages reinforce Gospel teachings by Christ on ways to live:

“These are how a person can ‘return to God’ and enjoy the ‘fullness of life.”

Meanwhile a Pope and a President find renewed clarity of purpose as they recover from assassination attempts and continue to live on the ‘pointy edge of the sword.’

The Communist Governments in Poland and East Germany become the focus of their attention.
