  • Master Yourself, Master Your Teaching
    Jan 5 2025

Teaching and working in education is one of the only professions where you must master yourself in order to truly master your teaching and make a lasting, positive impact on your students. In this episode, we’re diving into why, as teachers, you must master yourselves and how that self-mastery impacts yourselves, your teaching, and your students' short-term success as well as long-term well-being.

    We’ll explore three key steps:

    1. Your Inner Work Shapes Your Life (Including How You Teach) – where we’ll explore how mastering yourself directly translates to a happier and healthier personal and professional life.

    2. You’re the Mirror of Your Classroom – where we’ll discuss how teaching requires more than just skills or knowledge as we dive into the unique emotional and psychological demands of teaching.

    3. The Ripple Effects on Your Students – where we’ll uncover how your ability (or inability) to master yourself affects your students in the classroom and beyond.

  • How Your Teaching Affects Your Students Long-Term
    Jan 12 2025

Have you ever taught the unspoken curriculum? It’s not the lesson plan or the test prep. It’s not their ABC’s, 123’s, or DoReMi’s. It’s in between all of that. It’s the human component to teaching. It’s the deep, lasting impact that your teaching has on your students’ brains, behavior, and future. In this episode, we’ll dive into how your teaching style, discipline approach, and energy shape your students’ long-term growth in ways you might not even realize.

For years, I’ve struggled to make mindfulness a consistent part of my daily routine and lifestyle because I could not find strategies that fit my lifestyle and didn’t require adding more tasks to my already jam-packed day. I wanted the growth and benefits that come with mindfulness, and I wanted those around me—especially my students—to benefit from me embodying wellness and mindfulness, but the methods that I saw didn’t work for me. We’ve all seen those elaborate 5 a.m. morning routines or multi-step evening rituals that wellness gurus swear by. And, don’t get me wrong, there are benefits and value to those routines and they do work for some people (and I love taking inspiration from them, as well), but as an educator, they left me feeling more stressed than balanced—especially when I couldn’t check off every item on a routine checklist. I needed an easier access point, and that’s exactly what I’ve discovered over the years. In today’s episode, I’m sharing exactly what has worked for me (and continues to work for me) and countless other educators and non-educators alike, showing how small shifts in our mindset and approach to our daily responsibilities can make a big impact on us—and our students—without burning us out even more.

    We’ll explore two key ideas:
Shift Your Plate: Wellness doesn’t always mean adding more to your plate; sometimes it’s about shifting your mindset or approach to everyday tasks, like showering, cleaning or driving, to make them more intentional and nourishing.
Practical Wellness Habits: When you’re ready to add more wellness to your day, this section offers simple, actionable habits you can integrate into your routine to support your well-being and goals.
