In this episode we speak with inspiring grassroots ChangeMaker Michael Kennard, founder of community composting business Compost Club, based in the Brighton and Lewes area of East Sussex, UK.

Compost Club is a social enterprise with a focus on soil regeneration, food waste emissions reduction and education. Their mission is to introduce as many people as possible to the world of composting and the many benefits it brings to our soil, air quality and water systems.

Michael comes from humble beginnings and has always been interested in the environment - his mum called him her “little eco-warrior”. Michael has been very open about his struggles with anxiety, and after years of feeling like he was sleepwalking through life, he went through what he describes as a “spiritual awakening” that revealed to him how everything is interconnected. This helped him reconnect to the natural world, rediscovering his passion for soil health and stewarding natural processes to bring about change.

As well as talking about Compost Club, we discuss themes of microbiology, spirituality, and education, weaving the connective tissue of life below, upon, and above our earth through the essentialness of good, healthy soil.
